POSTPONED Spring Art Saturdays
AS OF MARCH 15, MAIN STREET ARTS AND SULFUR BOOKS ARE POSTPONING ALL UPCOMING EVENTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please stay tuned for rescheduled dates.Open to kids age 5 through 10, our "Art Saturdays" classes are a series of 5-week classes held on Saturdays 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and are led by gallery assistant and instructor Maria Galens. The "Art Saturdays' series takes place four time a year — in spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Each Saturday in the series features a new project and participants create a new work of art to take home. Sign up your creative kid for classes one at a time or sign up for all five classes in each series!
Spring Art Saturday projects will include:
Class One: Saturday, April 11
Mixed Media Underwater Scene
Participants will use watercolor paint to make a water background, chalk pastels to design their fish, and collaged tissue paper for the seaweed.
Class Two: Saturday, April 18
Watercolor Tape Resist Heart
Participants will create tape resist hearts with metallic watercolors, mount them on black paper and use felt squares to design their background.
Class Three: Saturday, April 25
Pastel Rainbow with Charcoal Sky
Participants will design their own rainbow and add color using chalk pastels and use white and black charcoal to make their background sky.

Class Four: Saturday, May 9
Watercolor Leaf with Dotted Background
Participants will create a leaf composition using Bingo daubers for the background and marker drawing and watercolor for the leaf.
Class Five: Saturday, May 16
Circle Composition with Watercolor and Pastel
Participants will create images by drawing on cut out circles with oil pastel and composing them onto a watercolor background.
