Limited to 5 participants only
Gallery artist, Pat Bacon will lead a two-session workshop on photogravure, a type of printmaking that uses photographic imagery with an etching process. The focus will be on expanding the creative options for those who are interested in photography and/or printmaking. Learn how to use your photographs on polymer/steel plates and complete a series of unique photogravure prints. The outcome can be expressive and dramatic, and while using the same image, can be different each time it is printed.
Full plate exposure process demonstration with historical references and modern possibilities discussed. Participants will expose the light sensitive plate and develop their images in water.
Demonstration of full intaglio print process and paper preparation. Participants will print their plates.
- Participants will print either one 11” x 8” image, or two 5” x 7” images
- Image(s) must be at least 300 dpi at size
- Please email these images to the gallery at firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: Participants will have enough paper to make either 6 large prints (11” x 8”) or 12 small prints (5” x 7” each), additional paper will also be available for purchase during the workshop if needed.
