Limited to 6 participants only
Gallery artist, Pat Bacon will lead a two-session workshop on photogravure, a type of printmaking that uses photographic imagery with an etching process. The focus will be on expanding the creative options for those who are interested in photography and/or printmaking. Learn how to use your photographs on polymer/steel plates and complete a series of unique photogravure prints. The outcome can be expressive and dramatic, and while using the same image, can be different each time it is printed.
Session 1 (Saturday, November 10)
Pat will demonstrate a full-plate exposure process, discussing historical techniques and modern possibilities. Participants will expose the light sensitive plate and develop their images in water.
Session 2 (Saturday, November 17)
Pat will demonstrate the full intaglio print process and paper preparation. Participants will print their plates several times on the gallery’s etching press, using techniques from the demonstration to create a unique print each time the plate is run through the press.
• Participants will have the opportunity to print one 11” x 8” image, or two 5” x 7” image
• Participants must either email the image(s) they are using for the workshop to the gallery one week in advance of the first session, or bring a USB drive with their image(s) to the workshop
